Workday- February 2015

Mahalo to the families that came out on February 22, 2015!

Our goal was to help clear the weeds from taking over our plumeria, to plant new ti plants, more crown flower and pohinahina!

We cleared 8 bags of weeds and made happy homes for 15 new ti plants, 25 pohinahina and 2 crown flower plants.

Amazingly... just after planting our crown flower last month, the butterflies found our garden! We now have caterpillars munching away and butterflies fluttering around the mālaola. Our garden is coming to life!

I love watching the keiki help and teach each other!

Watch our garden grow... January 2015!

January 2015

From here you can see our newly planted ti and one side of the plumeria lei growing in!

Workday- January 2015

January 2015

Tasks for the day:
  1. Clear weeds... including a ton of baby tumble weed... yes I said tumble weed... to prevent it from growing to the size of a small person
  2. Plant as many plants as possible... today ti and crown flower
We had a gorgeous morning... clearing rain, so it wasnʻt too hot, and the ground was ever so slightly more soft to dig (still like concrete!)

Progress:

We cleared 9 huge bags of weeds, added 15 ti plants and 9 crown flower! The oat cover crop that Dupont Pioneer planted is sprouting, so our space is looking greener and is coming to life!
